A New Concept in Jazz Piano

This is a unique album in concept and execution.

It takes an inspirational and breathtaking journey through the history of jazz piano. Geoff Eales pays homage to 16 of the major jazz piano icons, from Scott Joplin to Herbie Hancock. With his extraordinary depth and understanding of jazz piano, Geoff plays 16 classic numbers, each associated with a major influence in the history of the genre.

There have been countless musical tributes in the past that rely mainly on imitation of musical style or content. What makes this CD so distinctive is that it is not simply imitation of past piano styles.

In tribute to those piano legends, Geoff reflects the pianistic style of each, but takes each number to a new level of creative originality. So you hear distinctive echoes of Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, George Shearing, Erroll Garner, and the rest. But each piece is then beautifully crafted into a unique Geoff Eales creation.

This CD has been produced after rapturous audience reactions to Geoff’s stunning live performances throughout the UK. And bowing to public demand, the CD is showcased at a special concert at London’s South Bank Purcell Room in April 2007. However this recording will give listeners the chance to enjoy again and again this amazing musical tribute.
